Why may I need to be vaccinated?

Vaccination can protect you against becoming infected with a range of serious diseases. The childhood vaccination programme in Ireland protects you from a number of diseases, but you may need extra vaccinations if you're planning on travelling to certain parts of the world.

Travel vaccinations can now be given by specially trained pharmacists at participating pharmacies nationwide.

Travel Health Service

MyClinic GPs provide travel health advice, vaccination prescriptions and malaria prevention that's tailored to you and your trip.

Complete an online Travel Health Assessment for €50. This is reviewed by a MyClinic GP who will advise on any vaccinations and antimalarial tablets you should consider, and issue a prescription if suitable.

Once you complete your Travel Health Assessment you will have the option to book an appointment online at your nearest participating pharmacy to have your vaccinations given by the pharmacist.

Please note that payment for the vaccinations is made when attending your chosen pharmacy. Appointments can be booked from 2 working days after completing your consultation. This is to allow your prescription be sent to your chosen pharmacy.

To complete your Travel Health consultation, you will need:

  • Up-to-date contact details
  • Details of your trip (such as destination(s), dates and planned activities)
  • Details of any medical conditions or medication you are taking
  • History of previous vaccinations if known

Some travel vaccinations may be needed several weeks before your departure date. Ideally you should have your vaccinations six to eight weeks before travelling. To avail of this service you must be 16 years or older.
